Types/Sizes of Bernedoodle

There are three different types of this breed that have been found yet. Smaller the dog, the longer it lives. Some information about their types is described below;

Standard Bernedoodle

It is the cross of a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Standard Poodle. The estimated lifespan of a Standard Bernedoodle is 12 – 15 years. Their full-grown height is 23-29 inches at the shoulders. Adult weight is about 50-90 lbs (22-40 kg)

Mini Bernedoodle

It is the combination of Bernese Mountain Dog and the Mini Poodle. Mini bernedoodle‘s estimated lifespan is up to 17 years. Their full-grown height is about (45-55) cm at the shoulders. Adult weight is about 25 to 49 lbs (11-22 kg)

Tiny Bernedoodle

Tiny bernedoodle is the cross of Bernese Mountain dog and the Toy Poodle. Their estimated lifespan is up to 18 years. Their full-grown height is about 12 to 17 inches. Adults weight is about 10-24 lbs ( 4-10 kg)

Bernedoodle coat type

The coat of a Bernedoodle can be curly, wavy or straight. Their colour can be white, black and brown or a combination. The coat can be pure black, black and white or black and brown. Bernedoodle’s coat can be tri-coloured. Their thick coat protects them from cold in winter and from sunlight in hot weather. Their coat must be brushed regularly to avoid dust and other and to look more beautiful. The coat must be trimmed after every few months.

Different Generations

F1: The generation cross in which the Bernedoodle puppy is 50% Bernese Mountain dog, and 50% Poodle is called F1. According to the breeders and experts, these puppies are more likely to be healthier than other generations.

F1B:  The combination of 25% of the Bernese Mountain dog and 75% of Poodle is the F1b generation. A bernedoodle is bred with a poodle in this generation type. As the contribution of Bernese in his type is more (75%) than Poodle (25%), F1b type pups have more Bernese traits. This type can be more allergy-friendly and non-shedding.

F2:  When F1 Bernedoodle is crossed with another F1 Bernedoodle, the F2 type pups are bred by this type. F2 puppies may have a coat which is not soft like the normal Bernedodles that we love.
