Editorial policy

Sources and publication

We organize breed information from recorded sources and original editorial summaries. Imported records go through review before publication. Sources carry publisher, licence and approval information; the source directory identifies approved references. A source’s presence is not an endorsement of The Dogs Mag by its publisher.

Facts, estimates and individual differences

Breed measurements describe ranges, not promises about an individual dog. Crossbreed traits can vary between generations and within a litter. Calculators use documented formulas and assumptions, with methodology and limitations alongside the results. Missing information must not be replaced with invented facts.

Editorial responsibility and specialist review

The Dogs Mag team is responsible for the site’s editorial presentation. A team byline is an organizational credit, not a veterinary qualification. Specialist review should be attributed to the person who performed it, with the scope and date recorded. We do not imply a specialist review from the presence of a veterinary source alone.

AI-assisted content

AI may help draft explanations from structured source material. It does not establish new evidence, approve a medical or legal claim, or replace editorial review. Calculator answers come from calculation functions rather than generated prose.

Dates and updates

An updated date indicates a record change. A review date refers to the review identified on that page; it is not a guarantee that every cited source has changed on the same date. Source changes and reader corrections can require another review.

Corrections

Send the affected URL, the disputed information and supporting evidence through our contact page. Corrections require assessment before information is changed. For our calculation approach, see methodology.
