Origin and history
Where the breed comes from
The Tamaskan Dog was developed in Finland in the 1980s by crossing Siberian Huskies, Alaskan Malamutes, and German Shepherds. The goal was to create a dog with a distinctive wolf-like appearance while maintaining a gentle, family-oriented temperament. The breed is part of the AKC Foundation Stock Service but is not fully recognized by major kennel clubs. Its origins are rooted in selective breeding of Nordic breeds to achieve its striking wolf-like look.
